Tega Cay ,SC is considered a golf cart friendly city. The Golf Cart Ordinance – Ordinance 50-37 approved in June 2025 changes how you can operate your golf cart in Tega Cay, SC.
Effective June 16, 2025, Tega Cay City Council has approved a new ordinance allowing golf carts to operate both day and night on:
- City roadways with a speed limit of 35 mph or less
- Multi-use trails
- Golf carts are not permitted on sidewalks.
Key Safety Requirements:
• Drivers must be at least 16 with a valid license
• Golf carts must be insured and display a valid SCDMV decal
• Headlights & taillights are required and must be used from dusk to dawn
• Children under 12 must be secured with a seat belt or child restraint
